Instructions: We strongly advise working with only one film grit and glass blank at a time because the colors of some grits are very similar and can be easily confused. 1) Remove plastic from back of the strip to expose adhesive. 2) Secure strip to the glass blank. Be careful to align the strip fairly straight on the glass blank. Before use, the strip can be removed and repositioned if necessary. Use a hair dryer briefly to loosen the adhesive prior to removing a worn strip.

Use only downward, away from the edge strokes just like stropping. Upward, into the edge strokes can cut the films.

Use Zero muscle pressure. Literally, just the weight of the stone holder and glass blank. Each self-adhesive strip will service about 5-7 knives but we’ve gotten over 10 blades by going very lightly with them. Adding pressure will significantly shorten the service life of each strip though.

We’ve found that a lightweight oil is hands down, the best lubricant to use on these diamond films. You can even use vegetable oil if you like. We offer a small dropper bottle of honing oil that is perfect for use with them.

Jende Nanocloth Ultra bench strops are on the cutting edge of stropping technology! The honeycomb structure fills with abrasives making for a stropping medium that is different and more dynamic than traditional leather and other stropping materials.

The 1x4" size works perfectly with the KME Sharpener, and is the perfect for field use or as a travel strop. Please note that these strops do not come with our Poly Diamond or CBN Emulsions.

    The Jende Nanocloth Ultra is a synthetic stropping material that has no weave, so feedback is the same in all directions. Other weaved strops tend to have noticeable resistance change feedback variations, like a rug when vacuuming, which can make you second guess your stropping stroke.

    The Honeycomb structure is very consistent. The shape allows the emulsions to fill up the honeycombs, keeping more abrasive on the strop and off your knife. The shape also fills up and beads on the surface, giving a snow-shoe effect with even scratches when stropping.

    The depth of the honeycomb has little compression – less than leather in general.

     Because of the depth of abrasive in the honeycomb tubes, differential pressure can be used to give the strop more or less aggression by adding pressure for more aggression, and super light strokes to just tickle the edge for finish stropping.

    The color-coded Acrylic base allows you to instantly recognize the grit strop you desire to use, saving time and confusion.

The 4 micron CBN emulsion used in conjunction with one of our new Kangaroo leather strops is quite possibly the single most impressive sharpening accessory we’ve ever used and every single person who’s tried it agrees. One kangaroo strop and one bottle of 4 micron CBN emulsion are “must have” items!

These strops attach to the KME Knife Sharpening rods and can either be uses simply as a final finishing tool or... If you add our CBN abrasives you'll have the most amazingly polished edges you can imagine!

Note: You will need a speparate strop for each grit of CBN you want to use.

The strops are made from premium Kangaroo leather permanently mounted on a flat aluminum plate with all 4 edges of the strop beveled. 

The leather is trimmed flush, then each edge of the leather is beveled to prevent the edges and corners from catching or lifting.

True radius, convex bevels are now possible with a guided system! Our new convexing guide rod screws right into any KME stone carrier.

The convexing rod is formed in a smooth uniform curve which results in approximately 5 degrees of angle change from the beginning of each stroke to the end.

This gradual, 5 degree angle change produces beautifully rounded bevels which were previously only possible by free-hand sharpening with sandpaper on a soft backer pad or with belt sanders.

Includes an adjustable stop to prevent the possibility of scratching your blades, and a knurled thumb nut for locking the rod in place in perfect position.

About using rounded hones:

When using rounded hone, care must be taken not to round over the tips of your knives.

This is because unlike a wide flat stone, a rounded rod has a very small area of blade contact. It is easy to go just a bit too far and slip passed the tip which will cause the point or tip to be deformed or rounded over slightly. You can be fairly aggressive throughout the length of the blade but be very careful when you sharpen the tip section.

KME Broadhead Jaws

Sharpening contemporary, traditional, and concave cut-on-contact broadheads just got easier with the new KME Broadhead Jaws. 

Now you can use your KME knife sharpener to sharpen your 2 blade broadheads and duplicate almost any factory bevel angle. The KME Broadhead Jaws are cut at an angle so you simply put the broadhead in the jaws with the ferrule tight against the jaws.

XXCoarse - 100 grit: The Metal Excavator. With a mixture of diamond particles ranging from 80 to 100 grit, this is the most aggressive hone of any kind we’ve ever used. Use it for major blade repair and serious reprofiling - or whenever large amounts of steel need to be removed quickly.

Dan’s honing oil is recommended to be used with your sharpening stones during and after sharpening. Small metal shavings are made when you sharpen your blade and these can clog the pores in your stone. Dan’s honing oil is a light mineral oil that helps keep your stone’s pores from getting clogged. The oil is necessary to maintain the effectiveness of your stone. In addition, it is a good all purpose lubricant for many of your household needs to include squeaky hinges and sewing machines.

Keep all your stones, strops, and accessories organized and at your fingertips!

Our new 5-1/4”x 5-1/4”x 2” deep stone storage box will hold approximately 20 grits of various stones, strops, or films, the base post, stone carrier, and even an extra set of jaws. This box is made in the USA for KME by the ammo case company MTM Molding

Simply cut a 5-1/4”x 5-1/4” square out of the base layer of foam in the knife sharpening kit and drop the storage box in. The foam you cut out can even be trimmed to fit inside the new stone storage case if you don’t have enough stones to fill it entirely.

This adjustable stop collar with knurled thumb nut fits our standard guide rods as well as our convex sharpening guide rods.

The stop collar is placed between the stone carrier and the ball and race assembly. It's position is adjusted so that the front edge (knob end) of the stone can't come up onto the side of the blade which would scratch your knife.

This is a handy accessory item that should be in everyone's kit.
